The rap artist Notorious B.I.G. was killed by a single bullet that pierced several vital organs in a 1997 drive-by shooting, a long-sealed autopsy report released on Friday shows. The 24-year-old rapper, whose name was Christopher Wallace, was struck four times in the shooting, which remains one of the highest-profile unsolved murders in Los Angeles. The report had been sealed at the request of detectives until last week, said Craig Harvey, chief coroner investigator. Medical examiners determined that a single shot hit the artist’s left lung, heart and colon. No drugs or alcohol were found in his system, the report said. The rapper had just left a music industry event when he was shot. The Los Angeles police and the F.B.I. investigated the killing, but no arrests were ever made.
